The engagement addressed a legacy Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 environment and aimed to provide a compliant, auditable finance and accounting platform aligned with local statutory requirements.
Awara IT upgraded the client to a modern Dynamics NAV/Business Central-based localization package, migrated historical data, and implemented finance modules configured for Kazakhstan tax, reporting and currency rules. The result enabled EthosEnergy to meet local statutory deadlines, reduce manual reconciliation, and provide consolidated reporting to the UK headquarters with consistent Microsoft tooling.

The engagement focused on the company’s business expansion into Kazakhstan and required local accounting and statutory coverage while maintaining consolidation with UK operations.
EthosEnergy was operating on Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 with customizations that had become unsupported and difficult to maintain. The legacy system lacked Kazakhstan-specific functionality for VAT, statutory ledgers, local chart of accounts, currency handling (KZT) and electronic reporting formats required by local authorities. Month‑end close and statutory reporting were manual and time-consuming, increasing risk during the market entry.
The business also needed a clear upgrade path to a Microsoft-supported platform to simplify integration with UK financial consolidation, reduce audit effort, and enable scalable processes for future growth in the region. Key triggers were regulatory compliance in Kazakhstan, supportability concerns for NAV 2013, and the need to standardize finance processes across jurisdictions.
Dynamics 365 (Business Central / NAV lineage) was selected because EthosEnergy already had Microsoft stack familiarity and required a solution with a clear upgrade and support path from NAV 2013. The Dynamics platform provides modular finance capabilities, multi-currency support and a mature partner ecosystem for local statutory packs.
Awara IT was chosen as the implementation partner for its experience migrating NAV customers to Business Central/NAV-based solutions and for delivering localization packages tailored to Kazakhstan statutory and tax requirements. The solution also aligned with the client’s roadmap to use Power Platform and Microsoft 365 for reporting and collaboration.
Awara IT implemented Kazakhstan-specific localization covering VAT calculations and reporting, local chart of accounts, statutory ledgers, KZT currency handling and rounding rules, and support for Russian/Kazakh language fields where required by local filings. The localization also included output formats and reports aligned with local tax authority submission requirements and audit trails necessary for regulatory inspections.
The project included validation cycles with local accounting stakeholders to ensure statutory reports matched legacy submissions and that electronic filing formats were acceptable. This reduced the compliance risk associated with moving from a heavily manual process to a standardized, auditable ERP setup.
The Dynamics 365 Kazakhstan Localization implementation provided EthosEnergy with a supported, auditable finance platform capable of meeting local statutory requirements while integrating with UK consolidation processes.
