AGROFEED, a Hungary-based agribusiness, migrated from an on-premises Dynamics NAV environment to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to unify finance and manufacturing operations, speed up reporting and create a direct connection to its head office. Awara IT led the implementation with a focus on end-to-end process optimization, automation of routine tasks and delivering real-time visibility across production, inventory and financials.

The project brought together finance, production and IT stakeholders to simplify month-end close, eliminate manual report preparation and enable HQ access to operational KPIs. The result was a cloud-native platform that supports compliance with Hungarian tax requirements, integrates with Microsoft 365 and Power Platform, and provides a foundation for continuous improvement across AGROFEED’s operations.

AGROFEED had been running Microsoft Dynamics NAV on-premises with fragmented process execution across finance, procurement and production. Key pain points included slow, manual month‑end reporting, limited visibility for the HQ office, disconnected inventory transactions on the shop floor and multiple ad‑hoc spreadsheets that increased reconciliation work and errors.

Operationally, production scheduling and inventory accuracy were affected by paper-based tasks and delayed data capture. The IT landscape lacked modern connectivity for centralized reporting and secure remote access, which made it difficult for the head office to monitor KPIs and support decentralized production units. The organization wanted a cloud ERP that reduced manual tasks, standardized processes and provided timely financial and operational insight.

Business Central was selected because it provides continuity from Dynamics NAV while delivering a cloud-first, Microsoft-integrated ERP suitable for combined finance and manufacturing needs. The SaaS model reduced overhead for infrastructure and enabled secure, role-based access for the head office and plant locations. The platform’s native compatibility with Microsoft 365 and Power Platform made it straightforward to automate report generation and approvals.

Selection criteria also prioritized localization for Hungary (VAT, e-invoicing and statutory reporting), support for production and inventory modules, and the ability to integrate with existing bank and payroll systems. Awara IT was chosen as the implementation partner for their Dynamics NAV/BC migration experience and a pragmatic approach to process optimization and change management.

Awara IT implemented Hungary-specific localization: VAT rules and reporting, integration with the Hungarian Online Invoice (NAV) system, statutory financial reporting formats and a localized chart of accounts. Language adjustments, date formats and statutory document templates were configured to meet local requirements. Data handling and deployment followed EU data residency expectations and GDPR controls, with role-based access defined to meet audit and compliance requirements.

With Business Central and Power BI, HQ now accesses real-time KPIs for finance and production, enabling proactive support to plant operations and faster corrective actions. Operational benefits included improved inventory accuracy, shorter lead times and a faster month-end close. The cloud deployment reduced infrastructure overhead and positioned AGROFEED to extend capabilities using Power Platform for future process automation.
