Employee Motivation with Power Apps (Benefitis) — Freedom Pay

Freedom Pay engaged Awara IT to design and deploy Benefitis, a Power Apps–based employee motivation and rewards program embedded in Microsoft Teams. The objective was pragmatic: create a lightweight, secure channel for peer recognition and a corporate store where employees redeem corporate currency (“Coins”), while keeping administration minimal and visibility high for HR and line managers.

Awara IT delivered a Teams-first implementation on Microsoft Power Platform integrated with the client's Microsoft 365 estate. The result was an immediately usable recognition loop, an auditable ledger of corporate currency, simplified HR workflows and reporting — enabling Freedom Pay to make measurable progress on retention and culture without heavy custom development.

Müşteri / Sektör / Ülke

Freedom Pay is a Kazakhstan-based payment systems company operating in the Banking & Insurance sector across the Middle East region. The organisation provides transactional and payments technology to banks and enterprise clients and runs a centralized HR function for employees across Kazakhstan.

İş zorluğu

Freedom Pay required a comprehensive, easy-to-adopt solution for employee motivation and rewards. HR identified several concrete issues: informal recognition was inconsistent, reward issuance relied on manual processes (emails and spreadsheets), and there was no unified view of who was receiving recognition or how corporate incentives were being consumed. Managers had low visibility into recognition activity and HR spent significant time reconciling approvals and reward redemptions.

The company also faced adoption constraints: the workforce uses Microsoft Teams daily, so any solution needed to live inside Teams. Compliance, auditability and single sign-on were non-negotiable; the solution had to be low-friction for users and low-cost to operate so it could scale across multiple offices in Kazakhstan without a large integration project.

Neden Dynamics 365 seçildi

Freedom Pay chose a Microsoft Power Platform solution because the organisation already relied on Microsoft Teams and Azure AD for identity and collaboration. Power Apps and Power Automate enable a secure, governed, low-code implementation that integrates directly with Teams and Microsoft 365, accelerating time-to-value compared with a custom application.

Awara IT was selected as the implementation partner due to its experience across Dynamics 365 and the broader Microsoft ecosystem. The team’s approach emphasized reuse of Microsoft platform capabilities (Dataverse, Power Platform connectors, Power BI) to deliver an auditable, enterprise-capable solution that met HR, IT security and compliance requirements without extensive custom backend work.

The implementation accounted for Kazakhstan-specific language and regulatory requirements. The user interface supports Russian (primary language for daily operations) and has placeholders for Kazakh where required. In consultation with Freedom Pay’s legal and payroll teams, Awara IT configured the Benefitis ledger so corporate "Coins" are treated as internal non-monetary recognition, with reporting extracts to support local tax and payroll treatment under Kazakhstan labour regulations. Data residency and access controls were aligned with the client’s security policies and internal audit requirements.

İş değeri

Benefitis delivered measurable operational efficiencies and clearer visibility for HR and management. Automated workflows cut administrative overhead and removed spreadsheets from reward processes, freeing HR to focus on strategy rather than reconciliation. Peer-to-peer recognition increased substantially after embedding the experience in Teams, strengthening day-to-day culture and providing a lightweight retention lever for high-performing staff.

From a risk and compliance perspective, the solution provided auditable transaction records and configurable reporting for payroll and taxation purposes. The modular implementation on Power Platform creates a low-cost path for future feature additions — for example, expanding the catalogue, linking to performance data from Dynamics 365 modules, or rolling out to other countries in the region.

Awara IT built a pragmatic, secure rewards experience that employees started using immediately. The Teams integration and Dataverse ledger gave us control, auditability and speed without a heavy IT project. — Aigerim Nurmagambetova, HR Director at Freedom Pay
