REIMA: Dynamics 365 Business Central rollout across four countries

REIMA, a global kids' wear retailer, consolidated fragmented ERP and sales processes by implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with Awara IT as the implementation partner. The programme covered finance, sales/CRM and supply chain across Finland, USA, Canada and China and replaced multiple legacy systems and ad hoc Excel-based B2B sales support.

The outcome centralized financials and reporting, automated B2B order handling via an Elastic Suite portal and EDI connections, and introduced a single source of truth for inventory and order-to-cash. The project positioned REIMA to scale retail and wholesale operations with localized compliance and real-time dashboards for executive decision-making.

Client / Industry / Country

REIMA is a Finland-based retailer specializing in kids' wear with wholesale and direct-to-consumer channels across Western Europe, North America (USA, Canada) and China. The company operates multiple sales channels and distribution partners, requiring multi-country compliance and integrated supply chain operations.

Business challenge

Prior to the project REIMA operated multiple ERP instances and regional accounting systems, which led to inconsistent master data, duplicated processes and lengthy financial close cycles. B2B sales were supported through Excel and Outlook, creating manual quote creation, order re-keying and limited visibility for sales and finance teams. Reporting was decentralized — consolidated financial and operational KPIs were not available in a single view.

Operationally, REIMA faced high integration complexity: logistics carriers, e-commerce platforms, EDI partners and local invoicing formats varied by country. The lack of standardized interfaces produced frequent exceptions, delayed order processing and poor inventory visibility across markets. Leadership required a solution to standardize core finance and supply chain processes while supporting country-specific legal and tax requirements.

Why Dynamics 365 was selected

Dynamics 365 Business Central was selected for its fit with mid-market retailers requiring a unified finance and operations core that supports multi-company deployments and extensive localization. Business Central's extensibility, cloud hosting, and native connectors to Power BI and Dynamics 365 for Sales allowed REIMA to consolidate ERP functionality and add modern analytics and CRM integration without a full enterprise overhaul.

Awara IT was chosen as the implementation partner due to proven experience with Dynamics NAV/BC migrations in retail, practical knowledge of multi-country rollouts and a track record integrating EDI and e-commerce platforms. The partner model prioritized pragmatic configuration, minimizing custom code and using Azure integration patterns to accelerate delivery and reduce long-term maintenance risk.

Localization & compliance

The rollout included country-specific localizations to address VAT and sales tax rules in Finland, USA and Canada and invoicing and regulatory requirements for China. Local language packs, chart of accounts mapping and statutory reporting templates were implemented for each jurisdiction.

E-invoicing and EDI formats were configured per local requirements and connected to regional service providers where necessary. The solution was built to produce compliant VAT/sales-tax declarations, support local payment methods and generate audit-ready financial reports for statutory filing.

Business value

The Business Central implementation delivered measurable operational improvements: finance gained a single ledger and faster close, sales obtained streamlined B2B order handling and fewer manual errors, and supply chain teams achieved better inventory visibility and carrier integration. The centralized data model reduced reconciliation efforts and freed capacity in finance and IT for strategic tasks.

Importantly, the solution provided a standardized platform for growth across REIMA’s key markets while preserving local compliance. With automated EDI and portal-driven B2B flows, REIMA reduced order exceptions and shortened lead times, improving cash flow and customer responsiveness.
