RBPI Group migrates to Dynamics 365 Business Central to standardize finance and manufacturing

RBPI Group, a multi-site producer in animal husbandry, engaged Awara IT to migrate from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to Dynamics 365 Business Central. The program consolidated finance, sales, purchasing, warehouse and manufacturing processes across Norway and Thailand, introduced structured e‑document flows and bank integrations, and delivered a single reporting model for regional management.

Awara IT delivered a phased Business Central rollout that preserved business continuity while modernizing core operations. The result was faster month‑end close, clearer production visibility, fewer manual reconciliations and a compliant, cloud‑based platform that supports the group’s operational control and future growth plans.

Client / Industry / Country

RBPI Group is a mid‑sized manufacturing company specializing in animal husbandry (commercial pig production) with operations and legal entities in Norway and Thailand. The implementation covered finance, manufacturing, warehouse and sales processes that span both countries and their regulatory requirements.

Business challenge

RBPI Group operated on legacy NAV instances and a mix of spreadsheets and local paper processes. Finance worked with fragmented ledgers and manual reconciliations; procurement and sales teams relied on siloed order handling; warehouse and production lacked integrated visibility into stock and work‑in‑progress. Different practices in Norway and Thailand made consolidated reporting slow and error prone.

The group needed to: consolidate transactional data across entities; reduce manual invoice handling and bank reconciliation; standardize manufacturing and warehouse controls; comply with local e‑invoicing and VAT rules; and provide management with consistent, timely KPIs. The project aimed to close month‑end faster and enable reliable operational planning without disrupting production.

Why Dynamics 365 was selected

Dynamics 365 Business Central was selected because it offered a direct upgrade path from NAV while providing a modern, cloud‑ready ERP aligned with Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform. That compatibility reduced risk for RBPI Group: existing NAV data and processes could be migrated and extended using standard Business Central functionality and Microsoft‑native integration patterns.

Awara IT recommended Business Central to ensure robust finance controls, standard manufacturing capabilities (BOMs, routings, production orders), and warehouse management features appropriate for discrete manufacturing. The platform’s extensibility allowed secure integrations for e‑invoicing, bank feeds and Power BI reporting required by the Norway and Thailand legal environments.

Modules implemented

  • Finance: General Ledger, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Intercompany
  • Sales & Purchase order management
  • Manufacturing: BOMs, Routings, Production Orders, Capacity Planning
  • Inventory & Warehouse Management: locations, picks, cycle counts
  • Bank Integrations & Cash Management
  • E‑document (e‑invoicing) integration
  • Reporting & Analytics (Power BI)
  • Data Migration, Testing & User Training

Integrations

  • Local e‑document providers (EHF/UBL for Norway, local e‑invoice standards in Thailand)
  • Bank feeds (ISO20022 / host‑to‑host formats)
  • Microsoft 365 (Azure AD, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Power BI for consolidated reporting
  • Legacy NAV data migration via controlled ETL

Localization & compliance

The implementation addressed statutory requirements in both Norway and Thailand. For Norway, Awara IT configured EHF/UBL e‑invoicing formats, VAT reporting and chart of accounts mappings to meet local authorities and trading partner expectations. For Thailand, local tax rules, VAT handling and language considerations were implemented and tested with local stakeholders.

Awara IT ensured that bank formats, statutory reports and accounting conventions were respected in each legal entity while maintaining a consolidated reporting layer for group finance. Local validation and pilot transactions were completed in each country before go‑live to confirm compliance.

Business value

The Business Central rollout provided RBPI Group with a single source of truth across finance, manufacturing and warehouse operations. Standardized processes reduced rework and exceptions, enabling the finance team to focus on analysis rather than reconciliations. Production and warehouse controls improved material availability and reduced WIP variance, supporting more predictable throughput.

For CIO and CFO stakeholders the project delivered predictable operational costs, improved compliance with local e‑invoicing and bank requirements, and a platform that integrates with Microsoft 365 and Power Platform for future automation. The consolidated reporting layer improved decision speed and accuracy across Norway and Thailand.
